Condensed project story

During a scheduled cold shutdown, Solvocore was appointed to remove damaged sections from three suspended graphite electrodes. Fractures and uneven surfaces created a risk to furnace start-up integrity and required a precise, controlled intervention.

The intervention

Diamond wire technology was selected to make three horizontal cuts. The electrodes were pre-supported, cut positions were marked by the principal contractor, and the operation was executed under isolation, access-control and permit procedures.

Execution requirements

  • Reliable three-phase and single-phase power.
  • Water cooling for equipment and cut surfaces.
  • Secure temporary platforms and electrode support.
  • Coordinated permits, lifting assistance and controlled access.

Outcome

The electrodes were cut and cleared within the allocated shutdown window. Solvocore’s published account reports no safety incidents and no impact on the broader project timeline.
