Condensed project story

Solvocore describes a major mining-operation silo that had experienced years of deterioration, including severe spalling, exposed reinforcement and cracking. The objective was to recover structural condition while avoiding unnecessary disruption to production.

The intervention

Ground penetrating radar and ultrasonic testing were used to identify areas requiring attention without compromising the remainder of the structure. Concrete repairs and protective coating systems were then used to return the silo to a safer operating condition.

Lifecycle approach

  • Condition assessment before repair.
  • Targeted treatment of cracks, spalling and damaged concrete.
  • Protective coatings and ingress control.
  • Potential strengthening, waterproofing, lining or modification where future requirements justify it.

Outcome

The published case demonstrates Solvocore’s full-lifecycle approach to silo assets: diagnose early, repair proportionately, protect the concrete and reserve demolition for cases where rehabilitation is no longer viable.
